In 2004 the 80th Australian publishers association (APA) Book Industry Awards Dinner was held on Monday 16th August in Canberra as part of the Australian Booksellers Association 80th Annual Conference.

The APA Industry Awards acknowledge and celebrate achievement within the book industry. In 2004 Mary Ryan's was voted Queensland and Australian Book Shop of the Year by the APA, which consists of industry groups and publishing houses. It was the second time Mary's has been honoured with these two awards: in 1996 they were won under the previous owners, the Ryan family. Our combination of excellent store locations, extensive product selection, successful author events and most importantly, dedicated staff; again earned Mary's this prestigious industry award.
