Staff Book Suggestions

Here are our favourite picks for the month of August:

Adult Fiction: Inheritance by Nicholas Shakespeare, Andy Larkin is stuck in a dead end job, his love life is falling apart and he doesn't have enough money to pay his bills.  This all changes when he attends a funeral of a man he doesn't know, signs the register and inturn inherits millions of pounds.

The novel explores Andy's journey to find out the truth about the man he inherited a fortune from and why he inherited it.  It is a love story which uncovers secrets of damaged families. :)

Children’s: Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan, this is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Percy is a modern day 12 year old boy and he and his friends go on a quest to prevent a war between the Greek gods. The movie was recently released.

Byron Bay - Location

For many generations the pristine beauty and natural lifestyle of Byron Bay has attracted a wide array of visitors and residents to the once sleepy seaside village. Geographically Byron Bay is the most easterly location on the Australian mainland and when you gaze at the ocean from Cape Byron you are often rewarded with sightings of the abundant marine life. Located on the North Coast of NSW Byron is a leisurely 2 hour drive south of Brisbane. To experience all that is unique to this area take the time to explore the magnificent beaches and the world heritage listed rainforests. The alternative lifestyle also attracts artists, writers and musicians so awaken your creative senses or relax your muscles with a massage from one of the many healers. Byron Bay is more than a popular tourist destination, but a celebration of life and a place where you can nurture your soul.To the local indigenous people Byron is known as the place of healing or "Arakwal".
