A little about our store
Want to know a little about our store?
Who we are
Honestly, we are a bunch of book lovers. That is why we are still here. Between us we have over 50 years of bookselling experience. It still amazes me that when a customer comes in looking for "that book with the red cover about a small boy that I saw in your shop 2 years ago," invariably, someone in here will know which title they are referring to.
Our aim is to help you find the book you really want, even if you don't know for sure yourself, not to sell you something you don't really want.
The staff review the books we have read and like, so come in and have a look through our staff picks.
To give you an idea of what we read, here is a list of our favourites from the last couple of months.
Wendy loved Casual Vacancy by J K Rowling and Maine by Courtney Sullivan
Trish liked The Conversation by David Brooks and Life of Pi by Yann Martel
Kim enjoyed Where'd You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple and Instructions for a Heatwave by Maggie O'Farrell
Holly liked May We Be Forgiven by A M Holmes and Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
Carolyn loved Standing in Another Man's Grave by Ian Rankin and Foal's Bread by Gillian Mears
Young Adult reccomendations by Jess & Lily
Jess liked The Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
Lily loved Life in Outer Space by Melissa Keil

What we stock
It is true that we don't have lot of floor space in our cosy shop in Merthyr Village, which is why we literally overflow with stock. Books from floor to ceiling, every available space is filled with goodies to tempt you. We like to think that we cater for all tastes with a large range of new release titles as well as plenty of the classics. From children's books to cookbooks, fiction to non-fiction, architecture to history, and what we don't have on the shelf we can usually find and order for you.
We don't only have books, we also have a selection of CDs as well as a neat range of gifts from book thongs to puzzles and a selection of Fair Trade handicrafts.Lately we have also expanded and improved our range of stationery and gifts cards.
We now stock Lamy pens and for the last year or so we have a choclate counter stocked full of scrumptious Mayfield chocolates
Did you know we gift wrap for the price of a gold coin donation to our monthly charity? Our charity this month is the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. If you know of a worthy cause you would like us to support through these donations please let us know.
To create a place in which to feel calm and happy. A space to simply love being in. To give whatever help we can to people seeking the simple pleasures that books and music bring.
